Our Commercial Garage Door Technicians are primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of overhead doors and openers.
You’ll work on a wide range of commercial door systems, including sectional doors, rolling steel doors, rolling steel fire doors, speed doors, and counter shutters. Your work may also include dock levelers, truck locks, and gate operators, giving you the opportunity to take on a variety of technical challenges across different commercial settings.
JOB SUMMARY:

- Vehicle: Company vehicle provided
- Salary: $27.00 to $35.00 per hour, based on experience
- On-call rotation: 2-week rotation covering Guelph, Brantford and London’s after-hours service needs

Car-Wal Commercial Garage Door Technician Key Responsibilities in Guelph, ON:
- Oversee and manage inventory to ensure adequate stock levels for garage door installations and repairs.
- Be responsible for the maintenance of the company vehicle, including regular truck maintenance and proper accounting for equipment and tools.
- Maintain the company vehicle in optimal condition and ensure its professional appearance.
- Operate hand tools and other equipment required for the installation, diagnostics, and repair of commercial garage doors and operators.
- Install dock seals and bumpers as needed.
- Conduct testing of treadle operating systems to ensure functionality.
- Proficiently wind commercial-size torsion springs.
- Read blueprints and schematics and follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Utilize provided tablets for work reporting, photo uploads, and monitoring work emails.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical concepts and possess problem-solving skills.
- Provide excellent customer service, including communicating with customers, demonstrating door and operator operations, addressing customer inquiries, and collecting payments.
- Work autonomously and efficiently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, regulations, and safety requirements on job sites and company property.
- Be open to additional training, such as "Working at Heights" and "Aerial Lift" certification, if required for safe job performance. Costs are covered by the company if employment is more than one year. Otherwise, a repayment plan would be discussed for employment of less than one year.
- Be receptive to any other duties assigned by the manager that align with the job’s scope and requirements.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lb.).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of overhead doors, sectionals, rolling steel, high-speed or specialty doors would be considered an asset.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Valid G driver’s license is a must.
- Comfortable working at heights and performing frequent lifting, bending, and standing.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions.
