Garage Doors and Home Exterior Trends for 2022

Folks have been spending far more time at home than they did before the rise of the pandemic. Because we’re at home so much, it means that maybe we’re getting sick of seeing the same thing day after day. It might be time to rethink the home exterior and get a fresh new look.

“Feeling good at home has become a priority, so why not renovate or remodel in order to have everything under the same roof?” - Sarah, owner of Real Architecture.

Consider the Architectural Style

Transitional Style

This Transitional Style house plan from Anne Paquet Design is going hand in hand with the Flush design garage doors in Black

“Homeowners are moving away from a precise style. What they want is a timeless property that will stay elegant and beautiful over time.” – Ashley, at Anne Paquet Design.

One of the things you want to avoid is choosing a home that goes out of fashion after a couple of years. You want something that’s going to last and provide you with a timeless look. One of the best options is the Transitional Style.

It has become more commonplace in recent years, and it does a good job of straddling the line between traditional and modern. One of the other names you might hear this style called is classic modern.

What are some of the hallmarks of this style? For starters, you will notice that there are often symmetrical lines. The lines also tend to be relatively simple. When it comes to the colour for this style, simplicity tends to be preferred. Gray, along with warm white and brown can work nicely, as can beige. As for the type of wood, white oak has become popular.

Some of the other garage door options that can work well with these homes include the Flush or Moderno 2 beads.

Modern Style

This is a modern design through and through. This particular design sports the California full-view garage doors. The garage door has black frames around the glass, which is also evident in the home’s windows. It matches nicely and allows in plenty of natural light to the garage and the living spaces.

An entirely square home doesn’t have the same appeal that it once did. It’s considered bland today. However, different proportions of rectangles and squares, including the asymmetrical look, are quite popular. It can provide the house with a unique look, and you don’t have to worry about it looking like a simple cube or a shoebox.

What about the colour? With the Modern Style, you will find that black, white, and gray tend to be popular. If you want to add a bit of warmth, you could always add some other accent colours, such as warmer wood insets.

If you have a modern home, you want a modern garage door. The Vog, as mentioned above, along with Moderno multi and Grooved designs can work well.

Farmhouse & Modern Farmhouse Styles
